Discover a Little of Everything in Cochin

Day 11 - Today we are in Cochin, India - Ship's

Known as the "Queen of the Arabian Sea" Fort Cochin was the first European colonial settlement in India. Located on India's south-west coast - right smack on the spice route - it was just a matter of time before Cochin became an important trading hub. Nearly five centuries later, Cochin led the pack once more, only this time to shred its colonial ties and join the Indian Unionin 1947. By then the Portuguese, Dutch and British had long made their mark, giving the city its distinct European feel. But even so, Chinese fishing nets still line the shores, tropical fruit grow rampart in the fields and the scent of exotic spices fills the air.
