Santorini, Precious Gem of the Aegean Islands

We will be tendered ashore where there will be a Cable Car available to transport you up to the town; ticket prices for the cable car is 5 Euros per person each way (RC doesn't recommend the donkeys). Only Euros are accepted in Greece, no other currency.

Every time I would see an ad for this beautiful Greek Island, Santorini with its blue church domes and white buildings high up on cliffs I wanted to go there. Fate stepped in and Royal Caribbean canceled the port of Cyprus, that had been scheduled when I booked this cruise and substituted Santorini! Our ship anchored in Santorini at 10:00 am and tenders, were provided by the Union Boatman of Santorini, to transport us ashore to the Old Port, Skala Harbor. There are three ways to reach the top of the cliffs and Fira, a cable car, mule ride or hiking up 588 steps (following the same zigzagging path of the messy mules). Actually it turned out for us that there was a forth option that was provided for us by our ship tour, a bus ride up to Fira and continued to the village of Oia. Later in the day we were given tickets for the cable car to return to the port.
