Mt. Sterling, Kentucky - Lunch Stop

Finally we stopped for lunch in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky at a Cracker Barrel, so hungry! It was a long time from breakfast at 7 am this morning. (over 7 hours)

OK, must track this stop for mileage and the number of states we have traveled through.

Mt. Sterling is named for an ancient Burial mound called Little Mountain and for the town of Sterling in Scotland.

Charleston, West Virginia, Drive Thru State

Just driving through Charleston, West Virginia and got a quick shot of the Capital Building Dome. It is the highest state capital dome in the United States. Higher than the dome on the Nations Capital Building in Washington DC. Oh, and it is covered in 23-Karat gold leaf!

Our first night, Indianapolis, Indiana

It was a very long day, one restroom stop in the afternoon for a few minutes would have made a big difference! I will suggest that on traveling days like today, not very good for circulation in the legs. I expected that we would have more entertainment on the bus, we were given a couple puzzles but that is all. Even information about the areas we were traveling thru or more about the days travel, how many miles to our destination and what is our expected time of arrival?

Indianapolis is home to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500 race. The Speedway is the largest sports facility in the world, able to accommodate over 600,000 spectators.

Road Trip, South Dakota "Black Hills" with Abbott

Our second road trip with Abbott Trailways. The scheduled meeting time is 6:45am, at the Walmart's parking lot. The last time we traveled with Abbott to Nashville, Jim drove me over to Walmart's with our luggage and dropped me off, then Jim returned our SUV to our apartment parking space, then walked back to where I was waiting. This time we just left our vehicle in the parking lot, Jim was concerned that if it was raining when re turned it wouldn't be too pleasant to walk home, with our luggage in the rain, good thinking!

We scheduled this trip last year and paid the full amount so we could have the first seat on the door side. Our drivers name is Don and our tour host is Virginia. Only 19 people, total, on this trip, that includes Virginia's sister and Don's wife. Two pickup areas, Lynchburg and Bedford, people were transported in a van to meet the coach, from those two areas to Roanoke, then we had additional stops in Salem, Christiansburg and Beckley, West Virginia. Let the Adventure Begin! Today we traveled through the states of Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indianapolis, Indiana is our home for the night. We had one restroom stop at 10 am at Tamarack Rest Area in Beckley, WV. We finally had lunch after 2 pm.
